Cataract Treatment
The only cure for cataract is surgical. A cataract no longer has to be ripe to be removed. A cataract can be removed at any stage. The anesthesia used is eye drops only. There are no needles, patches or stitches. Once a cataract has developed it is removed with a very sophisticated ultrasound techology. An implant is then inserted with a soft injector. The implant locks into place without the need for stitches. Depending on the implant chosen patients have the added benefit of freeing themselves from glasses (see below). Dr. Behler has been perfoming cataract surgery for over 20 years and has used a variety of implants including the premium lenses and lenses for astigmatism. He currently uses a new highly advanced form of phacoemulsification called torsional ultrasound. This technology has increased the safety and ease of the procedure. The entire procedure takes minutes and the recovery is immediate. Patients can resume normal activity the next day.
Premium lenses - Free of glasses forever Until recently patients had few choices in implants. Unless the patient had monovision everyone would need glasses for reading or distance. Now patients have many implants to choose from. These exciting technologies are enabling patients to see distance, intermediate and near without glasses. Some of these choices include the Crystalens,ReStor, ReZoom or Toric implant. Patient’s lifestyle dictates the correct lens to choose. There is no “one size fit all”. Every patient is different. Dr. Behler has extensive experience with all available implants and will spend the time necessary to find the best implant for you.
